· Woe betide the unlucky sod who goes to 11th & Washington in search of the many-types-of-meat-on-a-stick emporium Porkie & Porky: You are too late — the joint closed. It has, however, been replaced by something called Pho Hoa, which is, believe it or not, a pho chain. No word yet on whether Vietnamese folks regard this place with the same disdain that Italo-Americans (whom we’ve already offended once today) have for The Olive Garden. Although that would be funny. Tomorrow night (Tues., Oct. 9), Honey’s Sit N Eat in NoLibs is having the first of one of a series of “Sugar-Free Dinners,” so named for their opposition to SugarHouse Casino, not delicious sugar itself. Proceeds benefit the Northern Liberties Neighborhood Associations fight for casino re-site-ing, if indeed that is a word. [NoLibs.org]
