Name: The Reaper
Available at: Trax Food Market, Front & Girard, open 24 hours.
What it is: Apparently, The Reaper is a soft pretzel that’s been sliced in half — horizontally — and refurbed with a few slices of ham and cheese in the middle, put back together, then warmed up again so that the cheese melts. Once it’s reached the right temperature, The Reaper is then wrapped in plastic wrap and placed under a heat lamp until bought and consumed.
What it’s good for: The Reaper is good, dead good, for your drunk ass. It’s not really a meal — it’s not like there’s a ham sandwich in there, just a bit to remind you that no, it’s not just a pretzel — but it is enough to soak up the booze, and its 24-hour availability also gives it a nice emergency status. Think of it as the Plan B pill for incoming hangovers. And of course, don’t fear The Reaper.
