on Food Blob.
The owners of Grocery, Lolita, and Open House just popped out a ‘nother one. Bindi, an Indian BYO that opened last night, adds curry to Midtown…sigh, Village. Congrats.
Fishtown gets a new watering hole by the shockingly dumb name of Kung Fu Neck Tie. Way to confuse the inebriated even more. The Front & Thompson pub will make riding the El that much more interesting starting on NYE. [Icepack]
Most curious, exceeding the inquiry of whether a Trader Joe’s will light up 48th & Pine with Candy Cane Jo-Jos or the appropriate treasure of whatever season in which it might arrive (we’re thinking early NEVER), is the following query of concern: Has anyone seen the Carrot Cake Man??!! Why, yes, he lives on Drury Lane. Or, uh, Walton Avenue. But have you seen Carrot Cake Pac-Man? [Phillyblog]
Swallow, the husband-and-wife BYO at the corner of Liberties Walk phase two, is finally set to open Dec. 15. After a long series of delays, let’s hope this date holds, if only because we’re tired of walking under that tattoo-ish sign and seeing the windows all brown-paper’ed up. [Inky]
It’s been ages since we’ve given even a fleeting thought to South Philly’s very self-aware The Dive, but, well, that was before they started making their own pumpkin brandy, complete with rum, vodka, and the expected hot-booze spices. If we somehow find our way out of the house before April, that just might be on our list of destinations. [PW]
And hey, just because it’s freezing cold doesn’t mean farmer’s markets — and their unreal-y delicious bread — are completely out of commission. [Messy And Picky]
BONUS ROUND: Bistro Boom! [DN]
