Is there a fuzzy or feathered creature that Councilman Jack Kelley will not stuff into his mouth to further the “kind to animals, totally part of the machine” platform he ran on? Don’t answer that, we wanna see if he can fit an alpaca in there. Meanwhile, Cap’n Jack is making noises about going back to the well and re-introducing his proposed foie gras ban to Council. (It died there, without a quack, at the end of ‘07.) But on the other hand, he is up front that it isn’t the highest of priorities right now. So will that mean more hot coffee coming through until it is? We can only guess. [KYW]
Since the new year, something in our inner bored housewife has us watching NBC10’s “All That And More,” which is what they now call the old 4 o’clock Fake News. But if we hadn’t been watching that while doing your ironing and cursing the day we met you, we would have never found out that today they’ll be doing a segment with a sommelier whose unfortunate job it is to match wines with Philly junk food such as Tastykakes, cheese steaks, et al. Wash West, this spring your take-out options should be getting a real boost. Union Gourmet Market & CafĂ© is being built as we speak, and will focus on upscale take-out, such as crab and artichoke dip, grilled salmon BLT, grilled flank steak and smoked salmon pizza.
