Jim Burke Rules At Life

jimFood & Wine has awarded South Philly’s Jim Burke its Best New Chef award. The award celebrates chefs in American who have a distinct culinary style and of course, create delicious food. The winners will be featured on the July cover issue as well as appearing on a 20th anniversary package on foodandwine.com. Burke, of course, is the co-owner and chef of James, an Italian restaurant in the Bella Vista neighborhood. Since James opened last year, it’s been a consistent press and fan fave, and on this we cannot tell a lie: We love this place. Hot tip: If you’re making a special occasion dinner plan, call up and reserve the private room for twelve. Pricey, yes, but opulent, luxurious, and awesome in every way. Congrats, Jim. And James.

    Burke owns it. The duck ragu over tagliatelle is spectacular. Nothing like a hint of chocolate to bring all the savory together. Dude’s a genius.
