Fresh Fruit And Vegetables Spotted In Fishtown For The First Time In Over Four Decades

Cornerstone Market & Produce on Girard between Frankford and Front opened last week, and with all due respect to Mandy’s — the only other corner produce up until now here in the ‘hood — the headline above was the first thing we thought when entering this oasis in a sea of F-Town grease pits and lottery stores. In addition to having some really nice produce and vegetables, Cornerstone has a great little assortment of gourmet products, some frozen meat and fish and, like every corner store here, lunchmeat. (We know some of you hate that word, but A) that’s what it is, and B) “cold cuts” really does not seem much better.) Combine the fresh supply of organics, the high concentration number of cute indie boys on staff and proximity to The M Room and Johnny Brenda’s and bam: Cornerstone Market & Produce is a missed connection waiting to happen.

Cornerstone Market & Produce, 19 W. Girard Ave. 215.634.4800.
