In the last decade, Philly has gone from a truly woeful place when it came to Mexican food to having an embarrassment of south-of-the-border riches. While we love taquerias like La Veracruzana in the Italian Market and Jose’s just north of 10th and Spring Garden on the cheap-cheap, and Tequila’s and Lolita in Center City when it comes to a big date meal, we find ourselves going back to Cantina Los Caballitos on East Passyunk again and again and again. As they do every year, Cantina is celebrating Cinco de Mayo for days on end, from today (Friday) through Monday with drink specials, games (yes, they have piñatas) and more. So, go for the donkey full of bad candy, but stay for the extensive menu of ceviches and the Camarones al Ajillo. Olé!
