Five Reasons You Cannot Help But Love The St. George Greek Festival

stg

1. Its color scheme goes really, really well with the Phoodie.info palate.
2. It’s hidden back in a little hamlet that is not quite the Gayborhood and not quite Wash West (see graphic), but if you happen to accidentally bike or stroll back there to the parking lot where it’s held, as I did one day in 1996, it will be an oasis of Greek festivity and re-affirm everything you have always thought to be beautiful and amazing about big city life.
3. The Greeks do not regard their cuisine as some stuffy intellectual property, and in fact, they want to teach you!
4. That’s the 2007 graphic on their site, we know, but the fest is timeless. We think – God, we hope – it’s still happening this weekend. First weekend in June is the tradition. We have a call in, we’ll let you know what the skinny is. But it’s most likely happening. It has to. It must.
5. All of the melomakarouna you could possibly imagine eating!
St. George Greek Festival: OPA!
UPDATE: It’s on, people! Starts tomorrow, runs through Sunday! Hours on the site!

I’m pretty sure I saw a banner for it the other day when I was passing by, so I think it’s still on.
