Events like Share Our Strength’s Taste Of The Nation — which goes down tonight at the Loews Hotel in Center City — always present an interesting challenge: Sure, they’re a great way to get your feet wet with an entire fleet of restaurants, but how do you do it without, you know, overdoing it? Answer: There is no human way on Earth. Just resign yourself to the pain. But look — just look at what’s on offer at tonight’s event: Amada, The Capital Grille, Fork, Gayle, Gilmoreās Restaurant, JAMES, La Campagne, Le Castagne, Meritage Restaurant and Wine Bar, Modo Mio, Nectar, Palace at the Ben, Rae, SoleFood Restaurant, Striped Bass, Swanky Bubbles, Tinto, Twenty Manning, Valanni and Water Works Restaurant and Lounge. Wow. So for the price of admission, you could get a pretty dead-on glimpse of who’s who in the Philly resto scene right now. Not to mention, the sight of host Gov. Ed Rendell eating, which, between that and the whole overdoing it thing, is roughly the equivalent of about two months’ worth of SlimFast.
