Not that you should need another reason to get on the Phillies’ bandwagon, but this past Sunday’s Travel section of the NYT featured a tour of different ballparks, including the highly touted Citizens Bank Park. Reviewer Peter Meehan raved about the Park’s versions of Tony Luke’s (“as good a meat sandwich as there is in the majors.”), Chickie & Pete’s, and the monstrosity that is “The Schmitter” (“…impossible to stop eating after the first bite”). The Times even saluted the Phils’ effort to go green with beer cups made from biodegradable corn. Apparently we have traded the excess of the Pete Incaviglia era for the (newly found) effectiveness of Pat Burrell in more ways than one. Now all we need is some sushi imported from Seattle’s Safeco field, and then maybe we’ll actually bypass the Phanatic’s Kid’s Corner next time.
