Fresh faces surround the burgeoning Philadelphia Dining Scene, and in case you didn’t know, Food & Wine Magazine has named Jim Burke, head chef of the aptly named James as one of the 10 best new chefs. This prestigious award “identifies up-and-coming chefs in America who are innovators with a distinct culinary style and vision creating exceptionally delicious food”. James was called out for its sophisticated Italian cuisine combined with its laid-back atmosphere. Chef Jim Burke is going to be featured in July’s issue along with the 9 other winners, and we’re crossing our fingers that no Cheesesteak reference is lobbed at his feet.
To celebrate Burke’s big win, James will be hosting a party Thursday, July 31st at 7pm. Our own Joey Sweeney will be DJ-ing, and we bet Jim will be bringing his A Game to prove why he earned his award. Those gently sautéed sea scallops are already calling us. Better get your reservations in fast though, as the Food & Wine readership will probably start making reservations into next year. Whoops, our bad, this party is invite only.
