Maybe you’ve heard of Chef Jose Garces, the force behind the recently opened Distrito and a constant name in our Google news feed. Chef Garces was recently announced as Philadelphia’s first chef entrant into Food Network’s “Kitchen Stadium“, where he will compete on Iron Chef America against Food Network pretty boy Bobby Flay on Sunday, August 17 at 9 p.m. For those new to the competition, Chef Garces will have one hour to complete five dishes, each requiring use of a “secret ingredient.” After the hour, the two chefs present their dishes to the judges who score each on taste, presentation, and originality. The week after the episode’s airing, each of Chef Garces’ three restaurants will offer the five dishes from the show to his diners. Here’s hoping that Chef Garces enters the Kitchen Stadium wearing one of his lucha libre masks.
