Our good friends at Azul Cantina just dropped some seriously happy news upon us. They’re starting a Tequila School to learn all us drunks about the nuanced happiness of the Agave juice. Classes are starting September 7th, with the first focusing on Highland Anejos. Prices will hover around $35 for three flights, as barkeep Matt McHale will discuss nuances in an open forum with students. Flavor correlation and pallette training are just part of the trip straight down Mexico way. Time has yet to be announced, but classes will continue on the first Sunday of every month. With the wall of crazy crap they got in this place, you know this can’t miss. This kind of training will get you drunk and possibly laid depending on how impressed the ladies are with your Tequila Knowledge. Pay attention, Barbarino. Reservations are required.

I love tasting, comparing and discovering fine unknown Tequila brands. I recently came across a great site, http://www.TequilaRack.com that has information and videos on how to properly taste Agave spirits in order to determine your own preference. They showcase different Family Brands from different distilleries around the Tequila Appellation area. Apparently there are many traditional family Tequila brands that have only recently begun to export outside of their villages. Buried in the resources section of the site is an interactive Tequila Training course that is free, fun and educational. – TK
