Epicurious.com – the website that takes fancy-pants foodie mags Gourmet and Bon Appétit and makes them actually pretty useful to your average decent cook, is coming to town on Friday. From August 22 through August 28, the Epicurious editorial crew will be promoting eating locally and organically. And of course, themselves. But that’s ok, because we have to say that Condé Nast has done a pretty kick ass job with this site, which brought their food mags up to Internet speed long before their other properties got their acts together.
Their local recipe selections sound delicious, but we’re not certain they’re reading the local market right. We might’ve included Lancaster County Cheddar rolled up in flattened organic flank steak and deep fried, just to reach out to a more stereotypical Philly eater. Go with what we know! We’re definitely going to be making some of that lime-mint syrup, though, and throwing it in some vodka and crushed ice at the beach next week.
