Can you imagine a time when the best place to get a quick burger in town was Checkers? Seriously, Checkers is actually still pretty awesome – and one time when we were at the drive-through at Broad & Girard, there was a handwritten sign on a paper bag reading “UPSELL UPSELL UPSELL!!! WE NEED $$$$”, which endeared that particular franchise to us forever.
Anyway – following in the footsteps of the Five Guys concept to offer fast-food burgers that don’t blow, Elevation Burger is sorta coming to town. Promising organic, grass-fed, free range beef that’s ground on-site to allay the mad cow and e. coli fright of Wynnewood’s soccer moms, Elevation hopes to offer not-disgusting patties at a reasonable price. Opening date TBA.
Wynnewood was chosen for the first Philly-area franchise because of its “excellent demographics.” Ahem. Tarting It Up makes Elevation sound pretty decent, although the Chowhound boards feature surprisingly contentious debate.
You know what’s definitely awesome though? This burger handbag (pictured), via A Hamburger Today/Serious Eats.

woohooo that’s where I live!
elevation burger is AMAZING – i tried it when i was visiting my cousin in VA…i cannot wait for it to come to the philly area…it’s the first cheeseburger i’ve ever eaten without feeling like taking a nap immediately upon finishing my last bite…so refreshing in the fast food/burger world.
