Food Blob: We’re Going Where There’s No Depression

robert-parker.jpgJust kidding:

  • In his new buyer’s guide, Robert Parker is calling for a boycott of restaurants that jack you for wine. Our new plan: stay home with a bottle of El Coto Rioja Crianza 2004 (recently on sale at the state stores for $9.99, a good deal for a great Rioja) and a six-pack of filet mignon, on sale for nine bucks (!) at Wilson’s Blue Ribbon Meats. Take that, economy! [Page Six via Serious Eats via MenuPages]
  • There are just as many food magazines out there as there are dollars needed to bail out Wall Street; apparently because we’re all cooking at home now. Of course, we forgot how, because we borrowed against our equity so we could buy a Tahoe and eat nothing but Frostys and Triples with Cheese for the past eight years. [WSJ via Grub Street]
  • And to celebrate the end of America’s Second Gilded Age, we’re taking our money out of the banks and investing it in Bar 210 – specifically in “Bi-Sexual Bourbon,” one of their new cocktails. Only $12, which at a Lacroix-related endeavor is a steal! Buy now! [Foobooz]
