We’re gin people here at Phoodie HQ. Biting and brawling is what we like, and a Martini made with anything else is bunk. Look it up. But we support the idea of a Tanqueray Mojito. Our mint is submissive. Be serious about your ginelixirs: carry around an engraved atomizer of vermouth in your pocket because you’re classy like that. Be prepared.
We got it bad for Zahav, the Moderno-Mediterranean Hummus House that has garnered positive attention from everyone who truly matters. They take the classic M, spin it raw, and make it Israeli. The ripping snap of juniper liquor is in love with the additions of tomato, and a splash of cucumber water to ‘dirty’ it up. Truly a liquid lunch for omnis and veggies alike.
The Zahav Happy Hour features this delicate beauty with a mean disposition for $5 every weekday from 5-7PM. They also sling $5 Israeli Wine, $5 Lemon Nanas, $3 Goldstar Beer, and half-price hummus. Oh, and if you haven’t heard, it’s the best in the city. Drink, eat, and be healthy.
Zahav is located at 235 St. James Place. 215.625.8800
