In the midst of our not-a-recession recession, we appreciate any high brow publication that can see the lighter side of things and even poke fun at themselves. The Economist is currently sending out branded pizza boxes in the Philly area with pie charts about various food related statistics and data. Frankly, we think this is a great idea, and honored that we’re the town that ‘gets it’. New York is too self-involved and D.C. is a veritable Pizza Wasteland. We’re fatter, more in tune with the economy, and more opinionated. And as far as The Economist sees it, worth pitching smart ads to. New Philadelphia fo’ sho.
We haven’t seen any of the boxes pictured at right just yet, but apparently they can be found in 20 pizzerias near ’schools of higher learning’. Fishtown that ain’t. So if you see any, please drop us a line and Cameraphone that shit.
AdWeek: I Had No Idea The U.S. Got Most Of It’s Mushrooms From Canada

I just got these boxes from Garden Pizza on Girard. Did you know that America imports majority of its mushrooms from Canada?
