City Tavern, Really?

When we import friends to see the REAL Philadelphia, we always take them to Independence Hall, The Liberty Bell, a jaunt on the Handsome Carriage Of Lies, and finish it off with a nice heaping pile of history at the City Tavern.

As ridiculous as that sounds, that’s exactly where our President-elect brought 27 of his favorite Democratic Governors yesterday for a ’thank you’ dinner. And, you know, if you’re a Ben Franklin impersonator trying to pick up out-of-towners who have a colonial role-playing fetish, then it’s totally your scene. And we approve. But we gotta call bullshits on our new leader and his handlers for choosing the Epcot Center Of Philly Eateries to show his appreciation for massive election support. The CT must have a totally awesome and colorful brochure at the Constitution Center, or a really great write-up in Zagat’s. We’re guessing Bookbinder’s, Jim’s Steaks, and Ted’s Montana Grill must have all been completely booked. Fast Eddie enjoyed the Turkey Pot Pie, we however, did not.
