B.Y.O.P.: Amada To Go

As if the man didn’t have enough to do, Phoodiecrush Jose Garces has just made your Christmas Dinner totally badass. Our favorite dish from Amada, The Suckling Pig, is the centerpiece of a new to-go, that’s right, TO-GO dinner you can order for the holidays.

The meal includes 4 savory sides as well, Charred Green Onions,  Herb-Roasted Fingerling Potatoes,  Chickpeas with Spinach,  Rosemary White Beans with Ham and for dessert, Rice Pudding.

If you haven’t had Sr. Garces’ pig yet, we implore you give it the go around. The swine goes through 24 hour brining, confits for three hours in pork fat, and is then crisped to keep the flesh juicy.

At $50 per person and a minimum order of 5 people, it’s not cheap. But a Garces dinner of this magnitude for $50 a pop is well worth the coinage. Orders must be placed 48 hours in advance, as the piggy process is a serious undertaking.

What we really like about this whole thing, hog aside, is the concept of Garces To Go. How about some take out Patatas Bravas or Croquetas De Jamon for those late Friday nights in the OC, Jose? Actually, just open a taco window outside of Distrito and we’ll call it even. We’re easy like that.
