Jonathan Best Comes To Reading Terminal

readingterminal.jpgOn Tuesday, January 27, Reading Terminal Market will be celebrating its newest vendor, Jonathan Best Gourmet Grocer, with free samples, raffles, prizes, and a totally appropriate Beatles tribute band, BritishMania. Owner David Schieber opened Jonathan Best, which specializes in hard-to-find and imported food items, about 25 years ago as a cheese shop; it quickly became a fixture in the Chestnut Hill Farmers Market. Through customer requests, which account for about twenty-five percent of the total product line, and Schieber’s own growing curiosity, the store grew into what it is now: A one-stop shop for specialty grocery items, gourmet soups, salads, sandwiches, and other pre-made foods. And now us non-Hill locals get it, too. To celebrate, Jonathan Best Gourmet Grocer will be donating 20% of the opening day’s sales to Project H.O.M.E. Atza nize. (For more information on David Schieber and Jonathan Best check out Kristin Pazulski’s article in The Chestnut Hill Local.)

This reads like a press release. From long experience I can say that Jonathan Best is ridiculously over-priced.
