
Now, yes, there is a big honking ad at the top of this page for Valanni, but that’s not why we are saying this: We’re saying it because we sampled the first dinner in Valanni’s new “Forks & Corks” series, and Chef R. Evan Turney‘s paella — both the seafood-lover’s and vegetarian varieties — are the bommmmb-diggity. And the la bomba is only a part of it. This paella, which Turney went to Spain specifically to study last year, had been creeping into the specials menu for a while now, but this new dinner cements the dish’s status as one of the key items on the Valanni menu. And with the tapas, cheese and wine pairings — also no slouches — the thing is a steal at $55.
