We’ve been hearing great things about Xochitl for too long without showing up there: How cute the bartenders are, how delightful yet relatively inexpensive the food is, and so on, but this pretty much cinches it for us: From March 17 to March 21, in honor of Mexico’s most beloved and first indigenous President, Benito Juarez, Xochitl will be offering this “pre-Hispanic” menu you see above. Take note: GRASSHOPPER TACOS. OK, that’s a bit of a gimmick, but check the others:
Sesos de Ternera Empanizados, breaded veal brains; Albondigas de Venado con Salsa de Huitlacoche, venison meatballs in huitlacoche sauce; Tacos de Acociles con Jicama y Frambuesas, crayfish tacos with jÃcama and raspberries; Jabali con Gallina Pinta, braised wild boar with corn and pinto beans; Ancas de Rana al Mojo de Ajo, frog legs with butter and garlic; and Pastel de Amaranto, Nuez y Chocolate, chocolate cake with amaranth and walnuts.
OK, we’re in. And send that cutie around with some more tequila, please? Gracias.
Xochitl, 408 S. 2nd St. (215) 238-7280
