You know how, when you go to Wegmans and you meander around the aisles and you get hungry and think, “Man, I wish I could just eat right now,” and then you realize that Wegmans has restaurants in it and you lumber over to them, defeated and in shame? Now you can drown that shame in alcohol!
Because Pennsylvania’s liquor laws state that in order to obtain a license, you have to both sell food and meet the minimum seating capacity, most supermarkets in our state have not been able to sell beer. But because Wegmans has these gross restaurant/cafes in them, they were able to acquire a license about a year ago stating that they could sell alcohol only in their restaurants, and limiting take-out to two six-packs. Soon after acquiring this license, the Malt Beverage Distributors Association of Pennsylvania filed a lawsuit with the Commonwealth Court, saying that all of this Wegmans Restaurant talk was “legal fiction,” and that they really just wanted to take over the beer-world, two six-packs at a time, and put every other beer-seller out of business. Yesterday, the Commonwealth Court was like, “Are you serious?” and then gave Wegmans the green light.
This ruling only goes for Wegmans stores in Bethlehem, Williamsport, Dickson City, Lower Nazareth, State College, and Wilkes-Barre. So cheers, college students in these ares who have not yet been able to buy beer with their mom’s credit card under the guise of groceries!

Didn’t we go through this last year with Sheetz? When will this actually result in me being able to pay less for a 6-pack of yuengling than I would for the equivalent 72oz in draught?
