the yakitori boy site is the WORST flash offender.

some enterprising person would be wise to offer a website design package with a content management system to restaurateurs. i think most of the reason these sites aren’t updated is because the people at the restaurants responsible for updating don’t know how to do it, and they don’t want to pay someone each time they make a small change (to the hours/menu/etc.).

At least Xochitl gives you the option to skip the intro. Meme has a pretty annoying intro as well, but if I paid for a Ralph Steadman design, I might play it for dinners before apps. to get my money’s worth. But Meme has some sweet music.

Totally agree. For that matter they can rip down half of the philly area restaurant websites ALTOGETHER. Outdated menus, wrong hours, boring flash, obscure navigation controls, hard to find addresses. It’s amazing!

If they built their restaurants like that you wouldn’t be able to find the front door and you’d have to guess the menu correctly to order.

I second that notion. Also, more of us are checking out their websites on the go with mobile devices that don’t support Flash. They’re simply shooting themselves in the foot. They could at least automatically redirect us to a Flash-free version.

Is there a tasteful restaurant website in Philly? They’re either awful flash-based monstrosities like the Stephen Starr joints, completely lacking in relevant details like Pub and Kitchen, look like they were made in 1996 on Angelfire like basically every BYOB, or they look fine but haven’t been updated since Beer Week 08.

Thank goodness food blogs are here to pick up the slack.
