An email today announcing the re-opening of Franklin Square — that carousel-and-putt-putt-sporting delight at 6th & Race — leaks more details about that Stephen Starr burger stand we were telling you about last week. And it would seem like, holy moly, it’s open for business as of May 1:
STARR Restaurants now provides the food at Franklin Square. During the month of May, visitors will be able to order a delicious array of snacks and meals such as burgers, hot dogs, pretzels, drinks, and ice cream in a temporary facility while a permanent facility is being constructed. This sampling of the full menu will be served until completion of the permanent structure, scheduled for summer 2009. The temporary menu will expand when the permanent structure opens with a full menu, including burgers, shakes, salads, and artisanal Capogiro gelato. The structure is designed to match the existing buildings in Franklin Square. Cafe tables and chairs, along with picnic benches, will be scattered throughout the Square so guests can dine al fresco.
Sounds de-lovely, no? Although we have to admit, the first time we read through this, we got so excited we were almost packing up the laptops to go there TODAY, NOW — but alas, this isn’t the only gorgeous day this spring. Or, at least, we hope. Meanwhile, Franklin Square’s hours are April 1 – May 21: 10 am – 7 pm, daily; May 22 – September 7: 10 am – 9 pm, daily. Take someone you love over there and buy them a balloon or something.
