Kitchen Karaoke?

chefhatWhen something is described as a mix of food and karaoke, the first thing that comes to mind is an ice cream cone that doubles as a mic. Alas, Open ChefAMe has nothing to do with music, although ice cream cannot be completely ruled out. OpenChefAMe is an event that showcases the skills of a guest chef in a commercial restaurant’s kitchen. Various food nerds of all backgrounds are invited into local restaurants and invited to go to flex their culinary muscles. On May 18th, two such accomplished phoodies will try their hand at the Dark Horse Pub. They are Chef Alyssa Shilliday, a seasoned chef who’s gained her chops in the likes of Iron Hill Brewery, World Cafe Live, and Cuba Libre; and Felicia D’Ambrosio, a food blogger/frequent Phoodie.info commenter raised by a family of “bad-ass cooks” who also has a deep history working in reputable Philly restaurants. The two chefs will form like Voltron and use the kitchen of the Dark Horse to prove why they’re that glittering culinary snowflake. Not quite Iron Chef, but pretty cool nonetheless. If you’re interested in attending , RSVP at the site. What would the Phoodie Chef bring to OpenChefAMe? Three words: Doughnut French Toast.
