Chocolate Zahav: Your New Synonym For “Guhhhh”

zahavDoes the combination of the words “chocolate,” “wine,” and “Solomonov” sound as appetizing to you as it does to us? If it does, and if you’re free on the evening of Thursday, June 11, you should go right ahead and make a reservation at The Quarter at Zahav for their Five Course Chocolate Tasting Dinner. Michael Solomonov, of course, is the head chef at Phoodie fave spot Zahav, which has quickly risen to become the one of the city’s hottest restaurants thanks to its delicious modern spin on traditional Israeli cuisine in a beautiful atmosphere. For the Tasting Dinner, Solomonov will be cooking with the chocolate of world-renowned chocolatier Michel Cluizel, who pioneered the idea of sourcing chocolate from a single plantation. Boutique Wines will also be on hand to pair each course with a special selection. Posting the menu so far ahead of the event might be a bit cruel, but that’s a chance that we’re willing to take:

  • Foie Gras Truffle with bittersweet chocolate, pistachio and rose, paired with Scarbolo’s 2004 “Campo del Viotto” Merlot from Friuli, Italy
  • Kobe Beef Tataki with milk chocolate and shiso, paired with Celler el Masroig’s 2008 “Les Sorts Rosat,” a Grenache-Carignan blend from Monstant, Spain
  • Poached Lobster with white chocolate and local corn, paired with Prieler’s 2006 “Sinner” Chardonnay from Neusiedlersee-Hugelland, Austria
  • Pork Belly al Ha’Esh with smoked shrimp, urfa peppers and 72% mole, paired with Huarpe’s 2006 “Winery Selection” Malbec-Cabernet Sauvignon from Mendoza, Argentina
  • Tasting of Chocolate featuring the five plantations of Michel Cluizel, paired with Jean Milan’s NV Sec “Tendresse” Blanc de Blanc from Champagne, France.
  • Guhhhhhhh. It’ll run ya $85, excluding tax and gratuity.
