If being nominated for a James Beard Award goes a long way toward transitioning a Philadelphia chef from our chef-infatuation to chef-crush, then virtually-annual nominee and 2005 winner for Best Mid-Atlantic Chef, Marc Vetri, by now must be our chef-super-crush. Or something like that. If you’re ready to take your relationship with Mr. Vetri to the next level (and you’re brave enough to face sharing the same breathing space with these creepy Russian nesting doll measuring cups), you can meet him in person. He’ll be at Anthropologie to chat about and sign his first book, Il Viaggio di Vetri, this Saturday, June 27, from 11 am – 1 pm. As the title implies, Vetri’s book is more than a mere cookbook: It combines recipes with snippets of his personal journey, from his culinary training in Lombardy, Italy, to his current status as one of Philadelphia’s foremost chefs. At the book signing, just try not to swoon… it’s quite unbecoming.
