In between terrorizing Top Chef contestants, fretting over his NY establishments, and colonizing Franklin Square, Stephen Starr has, according to this New York Times article, spent his free moments trekking across the five boroughs in search of valuable spices to bring back to the homeland (“spices” in this case being a metaphor for “ideas”, as well as cleverly referencing both basil and oregano). Stevie is exploring NY’s new pizza scene (nu-za scene?) that has gained a foothold over the past five years by combining relative affordability and gourmet-style pizzas. Oh Daddy Starr, did you bring us back a present from your business trip? Did ya, did ya? What kind of pizza restaurant will you deign to bestow upon us?

Do not call pizza “za”. Just don’t do it. Thanks.
The new Steven Starr restaurant, or should I say pizzeria, will be located at the corner of 2nd & Lombard where Cosi used to be.
