You know the old rule of thumb about not visiting a restaurant on a Monday because it’s the day that chefs have off? On Monday, August 17, it will be especially true, as many of Philadelphia’s most prominent chefs will be using their “day off” to participate in the annual Taste of the Nation. You know what that means: A chance to gorge ourselves on the creations of Philly’s best chefs and mixologists (all for charity, of course). Honorary co-chairs Jose Garces and Marc Vetri will be spearheading the event, which will be held at Loews Hotel. Restaurants represented will include APO Bar + Lounge, Bibou, Bindi, Blackfish, The Capital Grille, Ciao Bella Gelato, City Tavern, Chifa Restaurant, Derek’s, DiBruno Brothers, Fish Restaurant, Fork Restaurant, Kong Restaurant, Le Castagne, Little Fish, Lolita, Masano, Modo Mio, Noble, Octo Waterfront Grill, Osteria, Savona, Twenty Manning, Vetri, and The Witch. That’s definitely a list that cannot be denied! Consider your palates primed and ready for action.
Tickets cost $75 and can be purchased here. All proceeds go to Share Our Strength, which works to support local charities committed to ending childhood hunger, including Philabundance, The Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger, The Food Trust, and The Pennsylvania Action Center. We’ve been to this before, and we can attest: You’ll be drunk and full like you’ve never been in YOUR LIFE when you leave this thing. And best of all, you’ll have at least a little first-hand knowledge of every spot represented here.
