VargaBar, chef Evan Turney‘s latest entry into the growing Valanni/Mercato empire, just rolled out its new lunch menu, served from Tuesday through Sunday each week. The new menu draws heavily on the existing dinner menu, but curiously, where it means to add “lunch,” it really adds “brunch.” Not that there’s anything wrong with that. New dishes include:
. Blueberry Brioche French Toast: Citrus-cinnamon syrup, fresh whipped
cream, toasted hazelnuts ($10)
. Three Cheese Farmers Omelet: Chorizo, wild mushrooms, asparagus,
oven roasted tomatoes ($12)
. Oatmeal Parfait: Granola, yogurt, fresh berries, honey, toasted
pecans ($7)
. Chocolate Chip Pancakes: Caramelized bourbon bananas, toasted pecans
($10)
. Sides: Roasted potatoes, bacon and Italian sausage ($4/each)
. Vegetable Fondue for Two: Cauliflower, asparagus, leeks, onions,
potatoes, mushrooms, turnips, beets, Brussels, white cheddar and brie fondue
($16)
OK, so maybe fondue isn’t your first meal of the day, but you get the drift. Meanwhile, post-game reports from Varga continue to be good; and those 22 taps seem to be helping, too.
