The Orange Sign: Kakabe Coming To Fairmount

kakabe

So we were walking from favorite haunt Bridgid’s to the Ice Cream shop on Fairmount (can you say Birthday Cake Ice Cream with Hot Fudge?) and saw the ominous ”Coming Soon, Now With More Liquor’ warning sign adorning the 2028 Fairmount Avenue storefront.

Apparently Kakabe is going to be moving into the space, bringing what we believe to be Indian cuisine Greek Cuisine to a neighborhood that sorely needs it already has it. As you can see by the sign, there will be no al fresco seating, but the space is quite large inside, and with a liquor license, so it won’t will be your typical Indian Greek joint. Here’s to hoping this is the place that finally puts Goat Biryani on the menu, as the only places right now that do any sort of goat are Mexican joints. (We’re still hoping this happens, but we know Biryani isn’t big in Greek cuisine). ‘Narf.

Sitar in University City offers a goat curry. A la carte, but often on the buffet as well.

There is King of Tandoor in the Fairmont area. I’ve never been, I heard it wasn’t that great. Still… if you’ve got the goat hankerin, maybe they can take care of it? Lemme know if you do.

@ Kevin – because I thought it was Indian because of the name, but found out from the owner that the name is a mix of the owner’s childrens names and not referencing the town in the lower peninsula. Bummer.

An Indian restaurant would have been much better in Fairmount. Are they opening up a Greek restaurant right next door to an already good Greek restaurant (Zorbas)? Seems an odd choice.
