This fall, the first floor dining space at Jose Garces‘ Distrito in University City will be converted into a more student-oriented cantina, offering more tequila bang for your dollar. Cantina at Distrito has not yet released a menu, but our tipster informs us it will feature Mexican import beers at around $3, cocktails for $5 and a reduced-price menu, all from from 4 pm onward. There will also be shooters featuring traditional Mexican ingredients such as horchata, a spiced rice milk, as well as tabasco sauce. This change is definitely geared toward Penn students, but for those of us trying to save a little cash while still enjoying Garces’ brand of modern Mexican cuisine, it’s definitely worth a shot.
