Village Whiskey Liquor

So, we’ve all heard about the monolithic juice-bruiser known as the Whiskey King. That’s right, the beast full of ground beef, foie gras, and, if you’re into it, white truffles. Also, you can add cheese and a small Filipino village for just a little bit more. It’s got it all. The Cheese Puffs are delightful, the Clam Strips rolled in graham cracker crumbs, and the sidecar of cheddar sauce with the Short Ribs is laced with the goodness of Royersford’s Sly Fox beer. So damn luscious and full of huge flavor.

Also, as the name suggests, you can find a few selections of whiskey, if that too is your thing. It IS our thing. It should be your thing. What they don’t tell you at the door, though, is how dangerously potent and tasty the mixed drinks are.

We told you of the great potable happiness that is Amada, and we’re here again to trumpet the slick bartenders talents inside the walls of Village Whiskey. Each and every one of those drinks you see above was personally tasted by the lips of Phoodie, because we take bullets for you and your liver. It was a short afternoon and non-existent evening. Be very, very careful.

The drink menu is broken down into two sections, pre-prohibition, and post. You can find expertly mixed Moderns and Old Fashioneds with perfect little Kold-Draft cubes floating serenely in your lowballer, or you can go a little more futuristic with drinks like the APA, which truly tastes like an American Pale Ale. Featuring hops-infused vodka, grapefruit, and an egg white for the frothy head, the drink has the flavors of beer and the power of a semi-tractor trailer.

Our other favorites from the Pre-Pro side were The Philadelphia Fish House Punch, Between The Sheets,  and The Last Word, which features the luxurious Green Chartreuse, Gin, Maraschino, and Lime. A drinker’s drink if there ever was one.

On the ‘Repeal’ side, we fell under the spell of the Corpse Reviver 2.5, a twist on the classic drink of the same name, but adding Orange Curacao and soda as an added kick. If that’s too much for you, may we suggest the uber frizzante Ginger Rogers, featuring Gin, Ginger, and Champagne. No matter which way we go, you can be guaranteed two things: Taste and Buzziness.

So while we know the crowd will show for the Moo-Cow Monster and Don Draper Juice, try on one of these drinks as an appetizer. Focus on the conversation you were having just before you ordered it, because it’s the last thing you’ll remember when the alarm goes off.
