Food Blob: Lucky Jarheads

yards1_u.jpg· Tonight, Fork‘s Thanksgiving Preparation Class has been cancelled (turkeys), but that doesn’t mean Thanksgiving chefs can’t learn some tricks to make their turkey day a little tastier and easier to orchestrate with some help from Food In Jars blogger, Marisa McClellan. At the Philly Kitchen Share, she’ll learn you how to make real cranberry jelly ; and at Foster’s there’s a focus on cranberry chutney. Both classes have you walking away with a jar of your own; visit the links for dates and additional information.

· Chef Morimoto‘s Matsutake tasting menu for Fall is still going strong til December. It’s $100 for the seven course meal, an additional $50 to include a beverage pairing. Call Morimoto restaurant at 215-413-9070 for reservations.

· If 149-year-old lucky Irish pubs are your thing, head over to McGillins Olde Ale House on Friday the 13th, where they will be pouring drinks labeled Rabbit’s Foot, 4 Leaf Clover, Black Cat, and Open Umbrella.

· A Phoodie reader sent us a heads up on the latest Cuba Libre special: If you and a guest order their $39 per person tasting dinner, you get a gift certificate to stay one night free at the Tropicana in Atlantic City. Restrictions apply. For more info and the menu, go here.

· And lastly, congratulations to Yards is overdue from all of us here at Phoodie. Tonight, The Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce will be presenting the local brewery with the 2010 Green Business of the Year Award at the 27th Annual Excellence Awards Honoring the Region’s Small Businesses dinner. These awards are the biggest deal a local small business can be awarded from the Chamber of Commerce. Right on, Yards.
