At first, we thought the $55-admission book release party tonight for The Naked Pint ($19.95, Perigee Trade) at Fork would mandate the same sort of things that the Naked Bike Ride included (sitting, nudity, sweating, general grotesqueness), but upon further inspection, we realize that this is not the case. Rather, The Naked Pint is a 336-page compendium, covering topics such as: A brief history of brewing; home brewing; a recommended starters library; and a basic guide to beer bar etiquette. Not only does this seem to be a good book for beer nerds, it seems to be a good book for an entryway into the beer-loving world. To top it off, it’s authored by two women who are known as a couple of L.A.’s top beer sommeliers: Christina Perozzi and Hallie Beaune. Tonight’s event salutes “Women of Philly Beer”. Whitney Thompson (Brewer, Victory), Suzy Woods (founder of the In Pursuit of Ale female beer club, Sly Fox), and other double-x chromosome representatives from Ommegang, Rogue, and Dogfish will be in attendance. The paired menu by Chef Terence Feury looks fantastic as well (lightly smoked duck breast, spiced croutons, caramelized onion, bacon, parsnips with Dogfish Head’s Raison d’Etre? Oui, s’il vous plait!).
6:30 tonight at Fork, 306 Market Street (215) 625-9425. $55 admission fee.
