Finding a steady course in the food industry is a feat in and of itself. Monk’s Cafe has been the epitome of consistency in the kitchen and behind the bar for many years, and a Philadelphia instituion.
Longtime Chef Adam Glickman is leaving the establishment soon, and will be replaced by owner Tom Peters on the line in the short term.
‘Adam is going to be here for the Holiday Dinner to say goodbye to friends and family, but we both agreed he needed a new challenge in the near future. He’s a great guy, and a great chef.’, Peters said. ‘I’m looking forward to getting back on the line, as it was my place when the restaurant opened.’
Fear not, as the famous Drunken Mussels will not disappear, and the Duck Salad sandwich is as tasty as ever. In fact, if you stop in now, Monk’s is offering mussels specials to shake things up and get people talking again. The Autumn special features butternut squash and sausage, and the Southwestern version is cilantro heavy, with some burn and lime.
We’re sorry to see Adam go after 9 long years, but look forward to his next endeavors and wish him success in the future.

The food had gotten pretty blah at Monk’s over the years. Even the mussels didn’t do it for me last time I had them. Shaking things up is a good idea.
