Wait A Second, There’s No Booze In Root Beer?!?!

Recently, a few local breweries have started down a new, less boozie path by brewing root beer. There’s something wonderful about real root beer that can not be denied. On that same note, there’s something undeniably similar between the word “barf” and Barq’s. Anyway, Philadelphia seems to be embracing root beer with open arms; here’s where you can go to try it for your damn self.

  • Varga Bar slings a mean Root beer Float featuring Victory’s root beer. They look as good as they sound pretty much and can pretty much count as a meal
  • Percy St. BBQ (the new BBQ place on South St.) is doing a Yards root beer float which also sounds to die for.
  • Now you loyal readers have made it abudantly clear in the comments section that you are sick of hearing about PYT, but they too are venturing down the RBF (Root Beer Float) path by spiking theirs with Root, the root beer flavored liquor.
  • These are all great ways to enjoy (and probably overpay for) delicious root beer floats in Philadelphia, just don’t make the same mistake we did by mixing Root and yellow Gatorade. No bueno.

Bought a bottle of Root this fall, thinking it would last me a month or two. It lasted five days. Put it in my flask while kayaking in some deep areas, and got lost. Good times.
