There’s a fancy new lunch truck rollin’ about to be around these parts, but it’s actually not a lunch truck at all — it’s a gourmet dessert truck. Sugar Cube Philly is the brain child of John Suh and his business partner Franklin Shen, who have been hard at work merging the worlds of gourmet dessert and curbside dining. While the fancy-desserts-on-wheels idea is quite novel, the truck itself has a little bit of history behind it: Lovingly named Sheila, it is a 22-year-old converted mobile post office that used to be stationed in front of the World Trade Center in Manhattan. Since then, it has been refitted and dragged through the miles of red tape that it takes to turn a post office on wheels into a mobile gourmet bakery. “Sheila” will offer a level of refined sweetness previously unavailable at street level which includes Peanut Panna Cotta accompanied by a Concord Grape Sauce and dusted with Chocolate Crumbs and Toasted Peanuts and Soft Meringue on top of a Chocolate Mousse, with Chocolate Shavings and a Sesame Tuile. Once the hatches are battened and the final payload of confectioner’s sugar are loaded up, the locations of Sugar Cube Philly will be available on their website. According to Suh, Sheila will be up and running by the end of next week or early the following, at the latest. Either way, the sooner Sugar Cube Philly is parked outside Phoodie HQ, the better, because all of these Tasty-Klair Pies are starting to gross us out.

What is wrong with these dessert truck entrepreneurs?!? Between this and the Cupcake Truck I have never seen 2 vehicles that should inspire more fear in my life.
