Ever notice the lack of Pennsylvania Dutch restaurants in the city? While the bakeries can be easily found, no one has attempted to open a restaurant paying homage to the local country cooking in a city that craves something new. That is until now. Welcome MidAtlantic Restaurant & Tap Room from Daniel Stern, formerly of Le Bec-Fin, located in University City’s Science Center complex. Although we haven’t been, we’re intrigued by what their menu has to offer.
With décor reminiscent of a modern barn, this place is certain to provide the at-home vibe to dining out. The menu includes fried oysters, homemade hot dogs with unsweetened donut rolls, and root beer sticky buns. Bringing back Philly diner classics like scrapple – made with crab or venison, this place is sure to be a hit.
MidAtlantic is open for Lunch Monday through Friday 11:30am-2:30pm
Dinner is served Monday-Thursday 5:00 – 10pm, and Friday –Saturday until 11pm. The bar menu is offered Monday through Saturday until 1 am.
Located at 3711 Market Street Call (215)-386-3711

You guys post Press Releases about restaurants you haven’t been to yet? They really do need some positive copy on the ‘tubes to counteract all the negative reviews; I guess you owe somebody a favor?
I do wish there was a DUTCH EATING PLACE somewhere in the city. Maybe in READING TERMINAL MARKET.
MidAtlantic has been open for how long, and you’re just mentioning this? Place has been savaged by professional reviews and word of mouth, to “bring it up” as if a popular opinion of the place isn’t out there seems disingenuous and shifty.
I’m also confused why all those places that serve meals in Reading Terminal Market staffed by PA dutch are not in fact PA dutch.
Collin got the week off?
Intern drek, clearly.
@marty – yeah, I have been absentee recently, and I think the kids are doing an excellent job. Keeping up with all the what have you’s and whats up’s is a tough business. They’re juggling Philebrity too!
But you’re right about this post, being born and bred in PA Dutch country, and clearly knowing this place is a trash heap, I decided not to write it up. But sometimes posts go up just to let the masses know what’s shakin’.
@barryg – lots of people post about places they haven’t been. there wasnt any analysis or criticism here, just a 411. I promise when I write reviews I have gone up and down the menu and gorged myself in ways no human should. My cholesterol is out of control.
I got no problem with a blog perpetuating PR buzz, those are the “scoops” that often drive traffic after all, but in this instance Phoodie’s showing up real late to the game. Thanks for the response though, CEF.
The intern in question will be flogged mercilessly for the high crimes of Not Being Drew Lazor and Telling You Something You Might Have Already Known About when he/she returns next week. If he/she dies as a result, the blood is on your hands, Marty. I hope you’re happy now.
Oooh, super intelligent dig, TIPS. How dare ANYONE Not Be Drew Lazor. Too bad TIPS didn’t actually edit this “piece” before it posted — that would be far too much like actual journalism. Maybe you should put BREAKING in front of the headline to remind us that you got this press release FIRST.
For real, Felicia? Wow.
C’mon son.
