Catchy Jingle Prompts Renewed Interest In Cream Cheese

It’s like the people at Kraft took our rose-colored glasses, stomped on them, and rubbed the shards in our face: According to their UK website (they don’t dare admit to it on their US website), Philadelphia brand cream cheese did not, repeat did not, originate in Philly! No, they claim that this New York-born and bred cheese product was given the brand name “Philadelphia” because, in the late 1800s, Philadelphia was known for its high-quality foods. Also, did you know that some people use the term “Philadelphia” to refer to any cream cheese, much like some people use the brand name Kleenex when talking about any facial tissue? Not gonna lie, if we heard someone use the word “Philadelphia” in that way, we’d probably collapse in a fit of laughter and/or confusion.

Anyhow, what brought about this cream cheese history lesson? Well, after numerous viewings of this popular TV commercial, we decided to investigate to see if the chirpy jingle inviting us to “spread a little joy” is exclusive to the commercial (and you know how much we love a great commercial jingle). Good news: It is, and it’s being made available as a free download here (in the top right corner). We’re still not sure if the band responsible for the song, Life-Size Humans, is anything more than a group of studio musicians-they don’t seem to have any online presence whatsoever- but we’re reasonably confident that they’re not these guys. Regardless, this is a solid jingle…good luck getting this one out of your head for the rest of the afternoon.
