Taste Of The Nation ’10: Fighting the Good Fight

While we enjoy fancy Korean tacos and alcohol-infused milkshakes as much as the next person, there comes a time when we need to look towards a greater need grumbling deep in the gutty-works of our home town. We’re talking actual hunger; as in, 24.5% of our residents living below the poverty line type of hunger. Share Our Strength‘s Taste of the Nation is back this year again to fight childhood hunger by throwing a decadent soiree hosted by recent Bravo Top Chef finalist, Jennifer Carroll. Attendees will mingle with other notable chefs from around town while sipping drinks made by top mixologists as they “sample a copious array of culinary excellence from the best-of-the-best restaurants.” Taste of the Nation will also feature silent and live auctions for such prizes as gift certificates, hotel stays, to “unique culinary experiences.” (We’re secretly hoping one such experience is working the grill at Jim’s.) Tickets aren’t cheap; they range from $85 to $135 for VIP admission, but it’s all for a good cause; 100% of all ticket sales support Share Our Strength’s efforts to end childhood hunger. Area organizations that will benefit from this year’s event include Philabundance, The Greater Philadelphia Coalition Against Hunger, The Food Trust, and The Pennsylvania Hunger Action Center.
