Breathe easy, fruit and veg lovers: The Great Philadelphia Regional Produce Market Strike of 2010 is officially over after five days, without a drop of blood (orange) being shed. The members of the Teamsters Local 929 came to an agreement with the Market’s management that includes a health plan, pension plan, and pay raise. Perhaps it’s just our bitter side talking, but these must be the only dudes in the whole city who are getting a pay hike in this economic climate. Eh, at least the rest of us will have a steady supply of cabbage to keep our stomachs full.

Cops got a raise, teachers got a raise, too. Good for them. I bet executives all over the city got a raise, and no one says anything about that. When workers get a raise, we can’t believe it because of the economy. If it doesn’t go to the workers, it goes to the management. Regardless of the economic climate.
Stick to reporting about food, avoid the political commentary. Don’t expose the obviously bourgeois sentiment of this blog. It’s already clear that you’re at peace with your own gentrification, isn’t that enough?
