If you’re ready to take your Mad Men-inspired lifestyle to the next level, here’s an event you’re sure to love: On Wednesday, April 7 at 7 p.m., Pub & Kitchen will be having its first in a series of “Retro Cookbook Dinners”. That evening, Chef Jonathan Adams will treat diners to his interpretations of dishes from Craig Claiborne’s 1961-vintage New York Times Cookbook. Starting with a champagne cocktail as an aperitif, the meal will move on to Potage Cressonnière (potato and watercress soup garnished with black pepper and watercress leaves), Trout Meuniere (pan roasted Pocono trout with green beans, almonds and lemon brown butter), Steak Diane (cast iron New York strip steak with fresh spinach, potatoes ‘duchess’ and sherry sauce), and conclude with Crepes Marcelle (crepes filled with cognac pastry cream and fresh roasted pears). Yes, the rich, savory French influence reigned supreme in the ’60s. We could see June Cleaver serving that meal at a nice dinner party. We could also see Mad Men’s Joan ordering that meal at a dimly-lit restaurant rendezvous. The cost is $40 per person, not including tax and gratuity, and reservations are required. Future Retro Cookbook Dinners will occur on Wednesday, May 5 and Wednesday, June 9 and will likely include selections from Jeremiah Tower’s New American Classics (1986), Wolfgang Reighert’s Culinary Excursions Through Germany (1986) and Marco Pierre White’s White Heat (1990). In other words, if you’re more partial to the ‘60s than the ‘80s, you’d better be sure to get there for the first of the Retro Cookbook series.

did anyone here about last saturday there? how they had a sign saying if you wore green you werent aloud in? i heard they turned away regular patrons left and right. that is incredibly arrogant for a bar that is very inconsistent with food there. if u dont like the fact that one day a year people wear green and get drunk at your bar then why even own one? the crowd is just as bad on any other night as it would have been there on that particular night. and i bet just maybe they would have sold a bunch more food and beverage. i dont like the whole st. pattys day myself, but turning away patrons just because they are wearing green? the whole point of having a restaurant is so people walk in hte door and spend money at a place where they feel comfortable in, i dont know who there thinks they are so much better than the aveerage person, but they really need to get over themselves. that alone has finally gave me an excuse to never go back there
