New University City Farmers’ Market This Summer

There’s a new farmers’ market coming to West Philly his summer. Organized by a partnership of the University City District, The Food Trust, The Rotunda, and Inland American Retail Management, it’s going to take place in front of The Radian (3925 Walnut Street) every Friday in June and July from noon until 2 pm. In addition to promising an assortment of fruits and vegetables, sustainably raised meats, and fresh breads and baked goods, there is also going to be live music by the West Philadelphia Orchestra, Unidos da Filadelfia, and more. By running on Fridays, it will complement the Thursday and Saturday summer hours of the nearby Clark Park Farmers’ Market. We’re guessing that it’ll be a different vibe entirely, with lots of Penn kids who are too lazy/”chill” to make the journey over to the lush urban oasis that is Clark Park. Nah, that sounds a bit too cynical. Honestly, any efforts to bring fresh, local produce closer to those who might otherwise not go out of their way to get it are certainly welcome.
