Oooh! Samples! On Saturday, April 24 from 10am to 4pm, Reading Terminal Market will be holding its first-ever Italian Festival (which, given the longstanding availability of an array of Italian delicacies in the RTM, is surprising!). Several of the Market’s vendors will be set up in the center court area to serve sample-sized bites of some Italian delights including salsiccia con scaloppini (sausage scaloppini), prosciutto e melone (proscuitto-wrapped melon), broccoli rabe crostini, bruschetta, cannoli, mini pizzas (for the kiddies), and wine (for the adults). There will also be a pasta-making demonstration going on. Providing a soundtrack to all of the festivities will be strolling musicians and the Opera Company of Philadelphia performing an aria from La Traviata. But that’s all gravy… they had us at “samples.” And, er, gravy.
