If you live in South Philly West of Broad, you know how it can be: Someone asks you where you live when you’re deciding whose place to go back to after making out at the bar, and you tell them South Philly. Your partner in PDA crime says “oh cool, where?” and you name a number street higher than 14, and you get THAT LOOK. Well, you know South Philly Tap Room has long been working to change that scenario, and for the last year, their neighbor Ultimo Coffee has joined that effort as well. These cats make your coffee with sweet, sweet looooooove, and the renovation job they’ve done on their building at the southeast corner of 15th and Mifflin is really just superb.

They recently opened their beer boutique, Brew, in the same space after fighting tooth and nail, throwin’ elbows, and no doubt seriously buttering up L&I and skeptical neighbors to get their take-out beer license. And to encourage customers to try a variety of beers, they offer a 10% discount on your entire mix-a-six if you choose 2 or fewer of the same beer – nice, right? Ultimo has been open for a year now, and they’re having a little party on Saturday from 9pm-11pm to celebrate. So if you live in their ‘hood, lazily grill and eat something Saturday evening and then take a stroll over and grab a coffee/more beer and tell ‘em happy birthday. And make no mistake, every single person who works there is cute as a bug’s eyelash, so there’s that, too.
