Delicatessen, Michael Spector’s new-ish Jewish deli at 7th and Chestnut, is now serving dinner from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m., with a couple twists: 1) throughout June, bring in your most uncomfortable Bar/Bat Mitzvah (or “any awkward adolescent teenage rite of passage photo” – for those of you who were never awkward, well, you’re out of luck) and get 25% off your meal. You’ll also be entered in a photo contest and might just win “celebratory dinner for four” (first place) or… an engraved pen (third place), 2) buy any dinner entrée and your second is only $7.03. Some offerings:
Edie’s Savory Brisket, slow roasted with vegetables, pan gravy and crispy latkes
Pop Pop’s Pastrami Mac and Cheese
Hanukah Salmon, latke crusted salmon filet, pan seared with garlic spinach and a lemon butter sauce
Dinner entrees range from $14-$18 and come with a cup of soup or house salad, choice of an additional side dish and a taste of “Mom’s Jewish apple cake to accent the evening.” You can also get Delicatessen’s traditional dishes, like the Corned Beef Special and the Pastrami Reuben (pictured).
