In a mash-up of all things manly, Spanish tapas restaurant Bar Ferdinand in Northern Liberties will offer a Steer & Beer dinner on Thursday June 24 featuring meals of Prime Black Angus Beef from Green Meadow Farm in Gap, Pa. and craft beer from River Horse Brewing Co. in Lambertville, N.J.
The five-course meal created by Chef David Kane will cost $65 per person (excluding tax and gratuity) for both steer and beer or $45 per person for just the steer.
The Steer & Beer menu will include:
· A Mezze Plate of beef tartar, albondigas (that’s Spanish for meatballs) with spicy sofrito and cecina (smoked meat), paired with Double Wit Belgian-style Witbier, a thirst-quenching wheat beer with aromas of lemon, wheat, and coriander
· Roast Beef Bocadillo with horseradish aioli and beef jus, paired with River Horse Lager, an unfiltered, refreshing lager with sweet, bread-y malt notes and a light touch of herbal and citrus hops
· Seared Scallops over Beef Shank Ragu with, saffron spaetzle (egg noodles) and asparagus a la plancha (meaning it’s grilled on a metal plate), paired with Special Mild English Ale, a deep copper colored ale with aromas and flavors of toasted caramel
· Braised Beef Belly with sunny side up egg, shaved mojama (filleted salt-cured tuna) and organic mixed mushrooms a la plancha, paired with Hop-A-Lot-Amus Imperial IPA, a spicy hop-flavored ale with notes of orange rind, white pepper and brown sugar
· Apricot Tarte Tatin with crème fraiche ice cream and pink peppercorns, paired with Tripel Horse Belgian-Style Tripel, a rich, robust beer with aromatics of nutmeg and vanilla and a moderately dry finish
Reservations, which can be made here, are encouraged but not required.
